Am Naturstandort bevorzugt die Pflanze feuchten Boden, sie kommt aber auch auf dem Trockenen klar. Der Austrieb ähnelt dem von Maiglöckchen, aber schon bald gewinnen schmalen Triebe an Höhe und wenn sich die eiförmigen Blätter entfalten hängen sie fast anmutig über. Von oben sind die Blüten kaum zu sehen, da die Blätter echt groß sind. Zu zweien oder dreien hängen sie in den Blattachseln an dünnen kurzen Stielen. Die langen schmalen Knospen, weiß mit grüner Spitze, sehen auch wenn sie sich öffnen aus, als wären sie noch zu. Da hilft nur ein Blick aus nächster Nähe. Die Pflanzen bilden ein dichtes etwa kniehohes Blattwerk, das im Herbst golden zu leuchten beginnt. Mit den ersten Frösten sackt die Pracht in sich zusammen, nur die kahlen Stängel überdauern den Winter. Das kräftige Rhizom kann sich jetzt in Ruhe auf den nächsten Frühling vorbereiten, um in kleinen Schritten weiteres Terrain zu erobern. Wird die Wurzel ausgegraben, so finden sich immer wieder Sollbruchstellen. Die abgebrochenen Stücke weisen eine Signatur auf, die einem Siegel ähnelt, daher der deutsche Name Salomonsiegel. </ins></div></td></tr>
